    confused Alarm & hissy fits

The alarm on my estate has got more unstable over the past few weeks to the point where I was outside at 0100 hrs trying to get it to stop going off every 5 minutes...

My temp fix is to remove the 3 rear fuses that for the alarm.
The LCD is blinking so, there is a fault
Haynes is about as much use as a chocolate teapot

Before I surrender to an £80 tech2 at my friends Evans Halshaw, Saltash can I ask you guys..

    - Has anyone found a solution to unstable alarms?
    - If so, what was the problem / issue?
    - was it a home fix?

    Thanks for any advice
    Cheers
    John

Alarm problems on estate Vectras are more often than not traced to the break wire on the rear window. People either take the relevant fuse out or bridge the wires.

    Could well be Dave.
I'll check that the Labradors haven't damaged the glass wires

    Can't see a break...
One of the alarm wires on the side windows is discoloured, maybe lifted away from the glass?? but, not broken

    Has anyone encountered this before?
    Cheers

I thought you might have a dog ...I did a search and someone found although the wire wasn't broken it was actually shorting out ,thuis setting off the alarm .he bridged the said wires and hasn't had any probs since

I guess you would need a volt meter to measure the glass wires to find the fault. I cannot see a break with the naked eye

    Frustrating...

Might be worth checking the bonnet switch also mate, they were notorious for playing up on the Omega, might be the same with yours.

I was searching for this thread last night, it may not be a break on the glass, more a contact has fallen off the glass. A possible taking your rear interior side panel bits out to expose the lower section of the glass might spot if it is this problem.

And it's fuse 23 for the rear alarmed glass, although then you have to put up with 'Safeguard' everytime the CANBUS checks the car over (as i'm sure your probably already aware of).
