    Default 2 'concerns' on 1.9CDTI

    Hi
I have a Vec C SRI (150) which I am keeping my fingers crossed will hold out the next couple of months without developing a problem till I can change it for another car I have lined up.

However, I noticed 2 things this morning (which are maybe not connected) that are worrying me slightly as I dont want to spend any more money on the damn thing.....

1/ I'd driven about 1/2 mile this morning (so the car was still cold), and when I pulled up I could hear a 'vibration / ticking' when reving. This subsequently stopped, but now when revving the car hard (when still), upon the revs coming back down to tick-over there is a loud noticeable click / tick. It doesn't happen after every rev, but maybe after 1 in 4.

2/ I have also noticed after revving, when the revs are coming back down there is a noise like an air flow / suction noise. This also happens when driving and changing gears - abit like a mild 'dump valve' noise.

Can anyone advise on these ? Any opinions ?

    No EML lights etc

    Thanks

That will be your turbo spooling up mate. Also you may be hearing the recirculating valve (dump valve) when giving it some beans and letting off the accelerator hard before changing gear

Not sure about number 1 for you mate

Thanks for the fast response !

Ref the "you may be hearing the recirculating valve (dump valve) when giving it some beans " but it is heard when changing gears under relatively mild acceleration. Is that normal

Yes, as the turbo pressure on these are quite high, even mild exceleration will produce some "dump"

As for number 1, could it not be something as simple as tappits, I know they are hydrolic, but don't last forever without making some noise and can be quietened with decent oil or a oil change - when is it due a service..?

Also, incase its unclear, the loud click is just a single click (not a continuous clicking)....Sorry if this doesn't make sense
