    Default For the past hour...

I've been trying to make sense of all the different headlight bulbs and how to fit them to my facelifted veccy.

So far all I understand is that:
    Main Beam = H1
    Dipped Beam = H7
    Side Lights = W5W

Am I at least right in this?

I don't really understand the difference between HID, Halogen and Xenon?

Near the beginning of the year I got my dipped ones replaced with halfords super brilliance and didn't notice that much of a change, but didn't really think about it because it was during the day that I replaced them.

I just had them replaced again with so-called "extreme brilliance" halfords lights and again there seems to be no difference.

Have they not been adjusted properly, or are the bulbs simply crap?

Can someone possibly explain any of this to me, and suggest some better sets of bulbs for each; main, dipped and sidelights.

    Thanks.

Alright cheers that helped a lot, but this confuses me-
I was looking at sidelight upgrades and found:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=370148809045
This states they are Xenon sidelights, does this mean they will fit all Vectra's or will they just fit the AFL/Xenon light clusters?

Also, how much work is it to fit HID? Is the kit / bulbs quite expensive?

And if not HID, what would be the best Halogen H7 lights, as these Halfords one's seem quite poor?

The sidelights you want are mtec 501's - hese are the only white sidelights which don't set off the warnings like LED ones do.

Forget about halogen bulbs and extra brilliance ones etc from Halfords - if you want to get decent light then an HID kit is the only way forward. I got mine from HIDs Direct and never had any issue, just make sure you get the kit with the warning cancellors otherwise the bulb check function throws a wobbly...

You'll want 6K and Vectra C for the best results...

Welcome to the world of being able to see...

Just ordered a set of the MTEC sidelights, and those are just a case of popping them in aren't they.

But how much work is an HID kit to fit? I've got a mate doing his apprenticeship that might be able to help if it's too hard. Will probably get them at the end of the month, just spent 245 on a personalised numberplate and gonna get some pressed plates from dubmiester for it, so that's my car budget for the month

Also what is the difference between these two HID kits, both are from HIDS_direct does the 50w just mean it's brighter than 35w?

Yeah, but to be honest the 35 watt is more than enough. There's a how2 for fitting the MTEC HID kit from HID's Direct, but it's fairly simple once you have the headlights off...
