    Default Need a little help

    Hello all.

I recently bought myself a rather nice Signum, after having had troubles with Alfa reliability and daft problems I figured whats the harm in something more sensible for the commute.
Alls going well love the car, huge, practical, comfortable if not the most involving drive, but enough of the good bits now for the bad bit.

After parking my car down the road from the misses on Sunday I wake up to find local scrotes have taken a walk back from the pub and decided to kick the wing mirrors of each and every car in the row, about 10!, found mine hanging of by just the electric cable to the motor.

Mirror is fine, case seems good its just the connection thats broken. So as I have never needed to get spares for this thing yet I am wondering if any ones knows where to get them or should i just give it to my mechanic? Not Vaux as I dont fancy dealer prices.

I appreciate the help everyone, I am in Berkshire if that makes a difference to the recommendation.

When you say connection is broken what exactly are you meaning? Got a pic as that would really help.

I would describe it as the metal bracket that holds the mirror to the car, I will get a pic for you at lunch if thats more helpful.
Its the actual point of contact with the car from the mirror...a photo will defiantly help as I am not exactly getting my point across that clearly am I.

sounds like the mounting - in which case it would be a new mirror assembly

you should be able to pick one up 2nd hand from ebay - if your capping is still intact then you can transfer it to the new mirror

It does make me wonder why people are so afraid of dealer prices. For a manufacturer, they are one of the cheapest range of parts out there.

OK, some parts are expensive, but most are reasonably priced when compared with many after market parts.

Just a quick thank you to those who tried helping.

In the end I got the part from the dealer, as i couldnt find it on ebay then realized the entire interior of the door needs to come out to get to the mirror.

Spent yesterday with my car spread out in my garage and shouting at the haynes manual.

    All sorted thanks
