    Default Under seat cable

Hi all new to the site. I have a Vectra C Elite and have just had a small problem with the car tonight. I went to move the seat back and there was a snapping noise from underneath the seat so i looked under the seat and seen the wire to move the seat back and forward has snapped. The leaver for moving the seat just goes up and down now and the seat doesn`t move. Any ideas on how much this will cost to replace and how easy it is to fix?

    Thanks guys

hi Duffy - if the cable has snapped then hopefully you would be able to match the colour coded cables together and use raychem (heatshrink connectors) to rejoin the cables and hopefully this will resolve your issue
remember to disconnect the battery before you start playiung with the electrics though - you dont want to blow any motors - or air bags

if you dont want to do the work yourself then a "good" auto electrician should be able to do the work in an hour including removing the seat

Dez. I think he means the wire cable that "unlatchs" the seat so you can move it back and forth. Not the electric cables.

i would be surprised if the seat cable system is not available as a separate part :-
we have a specialist upholstery repair site locally - who would remove the covers and fit a new cable (probably rivetted on) (normally £40-80 dependant on the seat and what is involved)
might be worth your while doing a Yell search for your area for a local repairer

Is it just a bit of round metal wire?

Could a metal coathanger be straightened out and then ends bent over etc to connect the handle to the latch?
