    Default noise in dashboard

    Hi,

    I have 2008 vecky c (OPEL i.e. left steering) with CDTI 150.

For some time there's an irritating noise coming from the dash area. The noise is like from something swaying around and kicking into something. It happens when I'm driving through bumpy road and on a relatively high speed - 30mph. What's stranger is that this happens only when the right or left wheels go over the bump but not when the two tires step together.

The noise is not always there, though - sometimes it takes 2 hours of driving until it shows up.

I hear it right in the middle near the front window and around the fog vents. My girlfriend says it's coming just above the glove-box but I'm not quite sure.

Any idea what it might be?

Already removed the glove-box but everything seems stable. Inside the bonnet everything seems OK, except the diesel filter which is quite loose and if I push it by hands its moving left-right and up-down, however the noise inside somehow different. Is this loose fitting normal for all veckys? I noticed that the mounting at the astra is very different - seems much more solid

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for the advise. Unfortunatelly the dealer said there's nothing wrong and the they couldn't hear anything. Infact I drove a dealer's employee for 15mins and the damn noise wasn't there. The moment he got off the car the nasty thing came back

Any idea about the filter. Is it normal to be that loose?

    Thanks,
    Hristo

hope this helps but it was more of a rattle with me,

i had the rattle & thought it was somewhere in the Glove box,

But I've traced it to the fuse extractor in the fuse box next to the glove box

im convinced its the dash. As i said if you grab the dash above the speedo it moves slightly. Gonna undo the torx screws later that are inside the door pillars and redo them up. This is the most annoying problem to date i have had. Lol.

    Hi,

My dash seems to be stable. I'm gonna remove the central vents and see if it something pops up.

    But:
    1. I took it back to the dealer and again I was looking stupid - the thing was almost unhearable. The guy told me it has somehting to do with the whole dash mounting (not sure what the english word is but generraly it replaces the screws)
    2. I don't want to beleave him and continued observation. Now it's quite rainy and I noticed that on a rainy day there's no knocking. Thus I think it still has something to do with the exterior, under the bonnet... So I'm thinking to put some silicone lube at the bonnet mounts.
