    Default glowplug light

    hi everyone recently bought a vectra 03 2.0 dti never had a diesel before the glowplug light does not come on when the engine is cold if and when it comes on do you just start it as normal or do you have to wait for the light to go out what does it look like. also theres a display window in the rev clock whats supposed to be displayed there im not getting anything.thanks for your help.

    Ok the glow plug light will only come on when it is pretty cold, I personally wait for it to go out but I believe you can start immediatly.

    As for the window in the rev counter, you don't really want anything to come up in that window as it always indicates a problem, it also displays if a door is open hope that helps

    And it's also for the autogearbox to tell you what gear you're in when using the tiptronic feature, else just displays "D" or "N" etc.

    On the dti the glow plug light will only come on if the overnight ambient temp is 5*c or lower... it's always best to wait for the light to go out,that's when the cylinders are hot enough to fire with less cranking... hth

    Also as a general rule the glow plugs are still in action "when its cold",until u actually turn the key to the start position,the light on the dash is just there as a general guide...
