Default Daughter had car accident with uninsured driver

On Friday night my daughter had a accident with a uninsured driver now it seems. She was driving along a 2 way road and cars were parked all along the opposite lane when a car come speeding from round the corner on the wrong side of the road and they both hit front on. The other driver jumps out and starts on my daughter but luckily here boyfriend was with her to defend her but 5 other lads join in on the other guys side and a few fists were thrown. The guys wife calms it all down and then comforts my daughter who is really upset as she as only been driving for just over a year and never had a bump before, not even with me.
My daugter gives this guy here Insureance details but he didnt have his and phoned the next day only to say to give him £500 and he would forget it happend, my daughter says no and tells him that its his fault and to give here his insurance but he then refused. She got a name which turns out to be false and she has a reg number for the car which she has given to here insurance and the police who have said that they will struggle to find this guy and that the car will be long gone now.
Question is what can she do as she only is 3rd Party Fire and Theft Insurance with being 19 and the cost and what I can see of the damage it deffo needs a o/s front wing, headlamp, bonnet, front bumper and grille and maybe a front slam panel which I think I can mend myself as its a W plate Clio.
    All comments welcome unless witty

you can still claim through MIB iirc, basically a 'pool' of cash for such eventualities put up by all the insurance co's.

Quite agree with the bat idea but this has happend in Birmingham not at home, this guy is a native of Brum if you know what I mean, and with the false name given and his vanishing act were a bit stuck

Huh? It's not there for the drivers who are uninsured to use (otherwise we'd all have no insurance! lol). It's there for those who have are insured and been involved in an incident with someone not insured.
