    Default Parrot 9200 Install Help

    Hi,

Looking for some help before I start the installation. Bought the SOT cable off Ebay. It was listed as fully populated (I took from this that all pins would be cabled). The cable seems to have a few connectors more than a few I have seen on here, yet there is a connector on the cable for each connector on the Parrot.

    Parrot Cable

    Attachment 25835

    SOT Cable

    Attachment 25836

There are 2 sets of speaker cable sets on the Parrot Cabling, and 2 sets of speaker cable sets on the SOT cable (big black connector and brown connector)

Same for Power (Other half of big black connector and smaller black connector on SOT Cable)

Can anyone answer what the purpose of having two sets of cables is for ??

Last photos shows fully connectivity of cables. Parrot on left and SOT on left. All looks good !!

    Attachment 25839

    Attachment 25838

I'm taking it the install is fairly straight forward. Remove Headunit, install cabling and finally provide power to cigarette lighter?? Again is this necessary if the SOT cable has all the power pins populated, the instructions indicate a power supply via the SOT cable. I'll try without and then with cabling to cigarette lighter.

    Attachment 25837

Finally any help on how the heater control panel, tray, heater vents are removed and where you have located the Parrot control box. I'm thinking behind glovebox.

    Thanks

    Mike

Not played with a parrot kit in a vec , but yes , your ignition needs to go to the black cable on the cig lighter plug .

There is a nice shelf behind the heater controls to put your junction box of the parrot kit , the heater panel just pops out .once you have the radio out you can put your fingers through the holes to behind the panel and pop it out .
junk tray below is pretty much the same , just clipped in .

to get to the lighter plug , remove the gaiter surround and then remove the bit inside the ashtray , then pull the rest of the ashtray stright up , gives you easy access to the lighter socket then .

Thanks for the info. I have the factory Bluetooth so can't use the space suggested. My factory Bluetooth is pretty poor. Vx can't sort hence the Parrot. Also get the added benefit of using the iPhone to stream music :-)

When I fitted my Parrot I had to reverse the Red and Yellow wires at the Fused points, so the red joined the yellow and visa versa, this I understand is quite common on VX.

Thanks. Ill be fitting later today, time permitting !!

I'd spend hours chasing a fault cleared up by swapping a couple of cables !

    Cheers

Played !! With the cabling over the last day. All seems okay, Cd70 comes out ok, along with heater controls, tray and glovebox. All I need to sort out is power supply.

Blue from SOT - Cigarette lighter
earth - I'll bolt to chassis. Plenty of threaded bolts in glovebox area
perm 12v - not sure. Any ideas / photos of your set
    up please!

I'm thinking of joining to cigarette lighter also. Are there any disadvantages to the parrot. I can't see any problem?

    Thanks

    Mike

Take a permanent live from the fusebox on the n/s of the dashboard. Thats what I do when i have fitted my parrot kits in the past

EDIT: Scrub the above, that was when I fitted my satnav permanent live. As said above, the SOT cable will do everything you need. You just need the ign feed off the cig lighter

That's what I would have thought but the parrot has a dedicated black earth and red power cable direct into the blue box (it's the one to the bottom left of the first photo) and not via the SOT cable. When I wired everything up in the trial run with the SOT cable the headunit worked but the parrot didn't. That said I didn't have the blue ignition wire connected. That's tomorrow job to pull the loom through and wire everything up.

    Thanks for the replies

Thats right mate, if you aint got the ign feed, the parrot won't work at all.
