Howdy,
My car is being serviced by a mate of mine and i was wondering is there anyway i can reset the service light myself without the use of a main stealer? can it be done? or will it need one of those diagnostic thingamajigs doing to reset it?

anyone?
This procedure doesn't always work and if this doesn't work then it will need Tech2 treatment at your dealer but anyway, try this:
1)Push in and hold trip counter button on dashboard facia.
2)Whilst holding trip counter button in, switch on ignition
3)still holding trip counter button, press brake pedal and hold for 30 seconds.
I'm not winding you up, that is the correct procedure, but as I said above, sometimes the system is locked and this procedure will not override it so you will need Tech2. Let us know if it does work though. HTH
That is the correct procedure, don't think you need to hold brake pedal. it should fully reset the counter / timer.
It is fairly well documented on this site.
magic cheers peeps.
can i do that after evert service?
yep, the reset works every time for me so-far..
thanks it worked but i had to switch on sidelights aswell.
2004 vectra 1.9 CDTI just require clear instructions on re-setting service indicator. After turning off ignition an pressing down the button near the petrol indicator and turnin on ignition display changes to a reading which says 1.5 at the bottom right but above a long set of numbers. What is the correct method or is something wrong that is beyond anyones knowledge
You also have to press the brake pedal as well as pressing the trip reset button.
IIRC you only need to depress foot pedal and/or switch on sidelights on facelifts. Works OK without doing either on my 04 2.0T
