Steering Feels a funny

I have a 03-1.8 - GTS (SRi - to you guys in the UK). I have replaced the Rear suspension upper links, 4 x new tyres, Steering Control rods in the last 12 months. Steering was spot on till last week, now when I drive it sometimes it seems to get a bit spongy and feels a little unresponsive - The warning light with the steering wheel came up on the dash, but went off again. I have turned the steering wheel with power off and there does not appear to be any play - Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Pat

you say it was spot on till last week - what has changed since then ?

did the warning light come on in this time ?? if so is your pas fluid level low?? it might just need topping up

do the self diagnostic test and see what code it throws up

Dez,
I will check the steering fluid tonight - does low fluid level cause this kind of steering problem?? Nothing realy has changed in the last week!! -- PS whats the self diagnostic test and how do I do it - I have a OBD reader.

if there is insufficient power steering fluid then your steering could at times operate incorrectly dependant on how the fluid is being pushed around the system
