    confused steering wheel control help!

morning all, i have ordered new radio/cd controls for my pre facelift signum 2003 (6 button) just looked in the haynes manual and it says you need to remove the air bag! is there any other way just to swap them over? thanks in advance.

    yup !

torq screw on the rear holding them in place
then gently prise away - remember there is a wiring connector behind
    - fit new and then gently push onto wiring connector and hey presto job done

    none whatsoever
if your worried about an inadvertant activation - disconnect the battery and then leave the car to "power down" for about half an hour

but if you do this you will need to reset clock - radio (code) and windows
then the car will need to relearn its characteristics

took mine off without battery disconnect - and drove around for 2 days with no buttons whilst i repainted my covers

You just have to be careful when you re-assemble as the locating prongs sometimes bend and the panels dont sit flush.

Taking the airbag off though if you have to is a very simple job - done it loads of times with no issues...
