Default Question for any heating engineers out there (or any other knowledgeable veccy's)

    Quick non-Vec related query:
Iíve hidden our wall-mounted Potterton boiler inside a 920 high x 500 wide wall unit, as part of the utility room refurbishments. The top, Iíve cut away locally to clear the boiler pipework.
    Two questions:
    1) I need to cut a vent hole in the bottom of the cabinet. What size vent will I need?
    2) Where can I get a job like Prescottís? Full pay (free houses, cars, and secretaries!!!), all for doing no work at all!
Iím calling at B&Q on my way home tonight to buy a louvred (fixed) plastic vent grille, so need to know what size to buy.
Any plumbers / heating engineers out there???

hi doug, depending on the type of boiler and size but generally:-
wall mounted, conventional system (ie. tanks, cylinder) then compartment ventilation is 200cm2 both high and low level (suggest leave the top of the cupboard open) but also you need vents in the kitchen to outside to provide adequate air to the room
if it is a combi/comdensing boiler then generally after looking through pottertons literature, there is no need for ventilation.

Thanks for that Wayne, that's exactly what I was after. It's actually a conventional boiler and there's at least 200 x 100 cut away to the top and I'll make the bottom cabinet opening similar sized tonight - and this doesn't count the gaps around the door.
