    Eek Excessive Fuel Usage !!

I have got a Vectra Elite 1.8 lpg.

filled up a few weeks back and drove to Somerset from South Bucks ( 144 miles )

used little under 1/2 a tank of LPG for the journey as filled up with 25ltrs down there.

did the same trip this past weekend and I used up 3/4 of a tank and had to fill up with 41 ltrs.

no difference in journey time or speeds ( ave 80mph all the way )

Any Ideas as to the sudden over usage of fuel.

    Cheers

Are any of your brakes partially seized?? One wheel would be red hot (not literally) and it may even pull to one side under braking or even driving?

    Not at all.
    A404 - M4 - M5
all motorway driving, only one 2 mile stretch of roadworks, so no need to go over 90mph, dont bother answering if you are just going to answer with a stupid reply

read the original post it says I did same trip a short while before and was fine consumption wise.

Brakes are all fine, not locking etc.

don't really use the petrol side of it tbh, only when starting the car.

was thinking maybe sparkplugs etc could need looking at, but would they change that much in such a short time?

Really you need to narrow down if its a fuel issue or an LPG issue. This will help to find out what the problem could be. hth

Not being funny, Their is no way you can average 80 mph and use an A road as well and not go over 90 mph to get an average of 80 mph. How about the
stop starting at traffic lights, roundabouts. Slip road entry & exit on motorway, 2 MILE stretch off roadworks probably at 50mph, Motorway merege M4 - M5. And final destination off the motorway.

Its not a stupid reply before you say so, just making a valid point. To AVERAGE 80 mph you do need to be travelling faster than your said 90mph and using A roads too. I dont have a problem with what speed you drive at, im not a speed enforcer just answering your question about why your consumption was up.

I dont come on here to make arguments, i have been using this forum for over 4 yrs. I hope you sort your problem out with the car.

Two possibilities I can think of short of a leak in the fuel system/knackered engine/heavy right foot.

1- Air con setting. I believe the Elites have climate control as well so if weather was different then the climate control would have been kicking in to cool or dehumidify the cab increasing the fuel consumption.

2- I used to work in the LPG industry specifically with Autogas (or propane as it is more commonly known lol)for a rather well known brand that sounds like Valour .The ambient temperature can have a big effect on how much gas your tank can hold. I.e the warmer it is the less your tank can hold, and subsequently the less you can refill it with at the end of the day. the nature of LPG means a slight temp increase of 4-5 degrees can drop a few litres off your capacity. In lay terms when you refilled the tank as it is colder now than was a few weeks back you would be able to get more in your tank.

personally I favour a combination of both with a hint of heavy right foot lol
