Hi folks,looking to buy two new tyres for the fronts,the ones i have on at the moment are 215/55/16..?Can i change tyre size to ones that are generally cheaper but safe to run with the above sizes on rears..Thanks.

Don't think that can be done on 16's mate. Just the 17's which go from 215/50/R17 to 225/45/R17
You could opt for the 205/55R16
However this may compromise the handling as the footprint is a rounder area rather than the rectungular one you currently have
This is one of the reasons why some people prefer the 225/45R17 over the 215/50R17
Equally, you may find the 215/55R16 XL tyre is more suitable
It is can be cheaper but you MUST increase the tyre pressure to take the benefits of the different construction
I was looking on http://www.etyres.co.uk/ and it seems that the 205/55/r16 are a lot cheaper,but am i right in thinking that 205 as opposed to 215, is obviously 10 mm difference in tyre width??can it..will it alter the handling of the car.
