It's the round black plastic cylinder that sits inside a metal cage attached to the bulkhead behind the engine. It has 2 fuel pipes (in and out) and 2 electrical connectors (heater and water sensor). The fuel pipes are attached with the usual quick-release clips and the electrical connectors just clip on as well.
Is this in a similar location on the 150 CDTi, been meaning to change mine for a bit now.
Yes, it's in the same place on the 120 and the 150.
For anyone who seaches the forums wondering where the diesel filter is on the older DTi's, it's on the nearside of the bulkhead inbetween the coolant expansion tank and the ABS unit. Also, it only has one electrical connector - there's no water sensor.
Sound for that, must hav a look for that some day during the week .
Thanks a lot for the photo. Funny i just had to get the alternator replaced and was wondering what that part was at the top with all the pipes going in to it, makes sense now.
can anybody tell me if there is a special way of tightenin the black plastic cap up that holds the filter in cos mine is seaping diesel out since i changed the filter, just cant seem to get it tight enough and yes i have fitted the new seal that came with the filter.
sorry to jump on somebody elses post!!!
DTi or CDTi?
I have the DTi and it's just the Torx screw in the middle to the torque value moulded in the plastic next to it. There are 2 seals and it can be tricky to seat the top one correctly - it likes to pop out when you're trying to get the top back on.
I'm not sure about the CDTi one - I know that the top screws directly onto the body rather than being held on by a Torx screw. Perhaps check the seal (s) is/are seated properly and that the top is torqued up right.
