Default GSI 1/4 mile time ...

My bro decided to take our faithers GSI up the strip at Crail on saturday to see how it would do..

'52 plate 3.2 V6 GSI, totally standard mechanically,

Done a few runs but the best time he got was :

    D HAGGERTY (Car No 63)
    1/4 mile time - 15.763 sec
    Reaction time - 0.556 sec
    60 Ft time - 2.484 sec
    Max speed - 90.0 mph

I was having a look at the times folks got at the pod recently & his seems to be in the same region as these as well. No bad for a big lump of a motor
Edit : Also had a passenger at the time !

Is this for an auto or manual transmission?

    Very good.

Was traction bad at all? Looking at the 60ft? Or a bit of mechnically sympathy involved??

Car is a manual box, had traction control on for that run. He said the 60 FT times were better when he used T/C. He said he just melted the tyres on the line when it was turned off

I always think people are amazed that they get in the late 15’s and imagine them to be quicker. Its always been the case with v6’s right from the old cav v6 to the B V6. Off the line it’s a big lump to get going. A lightened flywheel makes a massive difference to how it revs, but as I tell these people, If it was a ½ mile sprint and not a ¼, it would a totally different story.

    Agreed Andy

    Lightweight pulleys also help.

Agree about the tc ... at least with the standard NCT5 on a tuned 2.0T
there is simply no grip without the tc.

Done 15.1s, and below 15 wouldnt be a problem with better tyres, ones
that is not made for econ.
