    Hi Dave,

Place in Kippax near Leeds sells them. they called Auto Spares Kippax (Known locally as ASK) think they are made by Franklin tools (on an Orange and black card backing ) and are about £10. tel 0113 2862783 they may be able to post one to you if you arent local.

    HTH Chris

PS I had already changed the filter about 5 times before the connector broke on me lol it just a pain having to replace as it on that heat shrink type plastic pipe.

My query started off in another thread re 1.8 plug change -

Attached are some pictures of the Fram fuel filter that I intend to fit with black clips...it's the only outstanding job still left to do from my decision to do the 4th year service myself, but I'm still puzzled as to whether the existing clips on the fuel lines need to be completely removed from those fuel lines or are they retained and locate/clip onto/into the black ones on the new fuel pump...

Despite all the comments in various threads on the subject & it being fairly straight forward, I've nto see ot had the chance yet to check under the car what sort of a job it's going to be what with the weather and all..

Any advice or pictures of the various steps would be appreciated...Taaaa!!!

each end of the filter push fits inside a female socket on the fuel line, the barbs you can see on the black clips on the pic sit inside the female socket and locate behind a thin plastic locktab (the bit I broke on my Vec B ) preventing it from coming apart as has been said, squeezing them in should release them, but I found fingers alone were no good as they dont push the barbs in far enough and the filter is also a tight fit.

As for not needing to release the pressure it is personal choice, But as it is a sealed system there will always be residual pressure, personally the risk of an eyeful of Shells finest for the sake of a 15 second procedure makes this a no brainer!

Here's a link to some fuel line pliers http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALEY-TOOLS-F...item45eedf7d2b, the ones with the red handle are for vauxhall.

I think I get the picture & the penny has finally dropped..I attach one of my previous pictures modified to what I think you described with text boxes identifying what I should find when I look under the car....

If this is a reasonable likeness to what I will actually see when it stops raining, I thank you..

As stated by mattv6diesel its the black tangs on the fuel filter that you squeeze (pic in post 23) and not the pipe coupling as you show in your diagram.

Thanks tridley/mattv6diesel...fully understood now & much appreciated...only did a fuel filter change a few years back on the '95 reg Cavalier 1800 Expression I had before the Vectra C...Vxl used small compression clamps (like small jubilee type hose clamps as I remember) & my old PA Cresta only has a wire gauze filter in the mechanical fuel pump...as you can see this is new territory for me....as I said before I hope to do the filter change shortly...when it stops raining......Thanks again guys..
