Hello, a quick question, I have a 04 1.8 sxi,the only issue I have with this car is,, it seems low geared in 5th, my last vec a 2000 1.6 was doing 2600rpm at 70mph and felt quite a bit more relaxed than my sxi, which is doing 68mph at 3000 rpm. so What rpm is your 1.8 petrol doing at 70 mph?
I have a rpm calculator which tells me my gear box is a f17 wide ratio, but I have been in a another 1.8sxi (same year as mine) and his was doing 75mph at 3000 rpm, we both checked or speedo with a sat nav, and found them to be near spot on ot 60mph,

SO the question,, what rpm is your 1.8 petrol doing at 70 mph?,

EDIT, Acording to sat nav, I was holding 3000 rpm in 5th, speed was 69.4mph

my sxi is the same mate, 3000rpm @70mph.
it uses the same box as the sri in the sxi, closer ratios with slightly better 0-60 times.

Checked mine today and was doing 3000rpm a 70mph.........
