Default Induction Kit or Std airbox Yeh or Neh? - what is heatsoak?

I'm thinking of changing my Vectra V6 Std airbox for one of the large JS-108 Ramair cone filters.

I've heard that 'heatsoak' is an issue which I understand to be warm air being sucked into the engine rather than cold.

    A few Q's....

Will I actually notice a significant difference in performance due to 'heatsoak'?

How does 'heatsoak' manifest itself, less power, less acceleration,

Would you do it????? for the Rrrroooaaarrr??

Warm air is less dense so less oxygen = less bang. The induction noise will give you a placebo affect so you wont notice the difference until you go back to standard. If you want the noise then have you considered a sealed cone like the Piper Viper, cool air and a cone all in one.

Dont buy a specific one. Just flick through ebay and find any old one then buy some silicone tubing to fit your car. I bought a Cotton Green one for £10

I did it for the meaty sound, it's no doubt not everyone's taste but I'm happy.

As Rushy said, a sealed system will give a good sound and avoid any chance of power loss.

i have a carbon airbox on mine, its enclosed cone with a cold air feed. got it on ebay. try searhing there. There are always viper kits on there but you dont have to have a viper, find a shielded kit and that will be fine.

    EDIT: Here, similar to mine
