My spanner is always on.....??

Ive got a 55plate pre face lift cdti 120.
When im driving the "engine" Symbol is never on but the large spanner stays on permantly. How an i find out its probablem??

Thats an oil can not a spanner iirc. Have you checked your manual to correctly id the symbol just to make sure? If its a fault light then you need to get the codes read. hth

Mine displays a spanner when its due a service...

Is the spanner in an outline of a car? If so, this is engine electronics.

Or, is the spanner over an oil can? If so, it requires a service, but should only light briefly when the engine is started and again when turned off, not permanently.

I don't think mine displays the spanner only symbol for anything.

Get the codes read.

Either take it to your VX dealer (take your wallet with you,unless it's got a warranty..on second thoughts,take it anyway),or take it to your local 'do-it-all' garage.They'll find the problem using their diagnostic equipment for a small fee,but may not have a clue as to what the 'real' problem is.
