Default Fitting 2nd hand Vectra C satnav (I don't have any codes)

    Hi guys,

Just bought a Vectra C SRi with satnav, but the headunit is missing. I have just bought a NAV70 headunit from eBay, the auction reads 'IM NOT SURE IF THIS UNIT HAS BEEN DIVORSED FROM THE ORIGNAL CAR AS I BOUGHT IT FROM A BREAKERS'.

So assuming the worst scenario what will I need to do? I don't have any manuals/codes for my vehicle!

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks!

If it hasn't been divorved from the donor car, nor supplied with the screen from the donor card, you've just purchased an expensive door stop.

Basically the unit should have been put back into delivery mode (which means it was divorced from the car it was fitted to) so that you can then have it married up to your car via a Tech2 code reader.

If it has been put into delivery mode, then all you need do is apply to Vauxhall for the Car Pass (£15 to £20) for your car which will have the necessary codes so it can be married up to your car.

If is hasn't been divorced then you can get a radio company that specializes it getting codes from CD** radios to read the code, then its just a matter of Tech2

I doubt it's been divorced. God, what a rigmarole!

They usually go for around £230-£250 on eBay, n I got this one for £175 delivered, so another £30-£40 won't be too bad I guess. :/

Plus the Tech2 session for the marriage ceromony. Another £40 to £70 depending on where you get it done.

Firstly, from my own experience, I would

Fit the head-unit and give it a whirl...
If it works then it is still paired / married. The downside is that you will not be able to program changes to it's functions. It wil more than likely crackle and pop on your speakers for the first five minutes after switch off, however this is more an annoyance than anything else.

If it is unpaired / divorced then it will flash up "safe mode" on your display and ping every 5 seconds or so.
You will need to find someone with Tech 2 (forum member or Vx dealer) to have it programmed in (paired up / married into your car).
Although this will cost you for the programming in at a Vx dealer, you should have no future programming or popping issues.

It's the card that comes with the car when it's new, it also has the key number on it and is normally in the folder with the books
