    Question

    Hi all,

    I have recently bought an 2008 1.9 CDTi (150) SRi and have been reading on here about the problems with the Inlet Manifold, EGR and Swirl Valves.

    I have also seen unclear mentions of these problems having been sorted by VX on newer models.

    Does anyone know if this is the case and from what year it applies??

    Hello Mate. I'm sure I've read on this site that there was a cure for this from mid 2007. That means if you have an 08 car it should be OK. Someone will confirm this I hope!

    wow, i hope so ! Ive been worrying and my car is a late 58 - Will I be ok ?

    The swirl valves are within the inlet and the EGR valve does cause problems by basically 'getting dirty and blocked'.

    Hi Mark,

    Yeah from what I have seen on here they are all caused by the inlet manifold, which was apparently changed at some point? Just not sure when!

    all mod's will have been done,there's been several over the year's ,the last was a design change to make the swirl flaps stronger to stop them from sticking,MAKE's A CHANGE FOR VX

    i believe 08 plates are ok as the manifold affects 04 to 55 plates as these havbe the old style manifolds. But I'm not 100%.

    there is a noticeable difference in the swirl design try to post pic of both.

    Looks like mine should be all good then!! Does that mean I won't be needing to do things like strip and clean the EGR & boost sensor etc??
