Paper one is best for filtration, material ones like K&N and Cotton Green are better than foam for filtration like Pipercross if your after a "sports" filter.

The modern Ecotecs hate cone filters, you either want a sealed system like the Piper Viper/K&N Apollo or a K&N panel filter. As for where to buy...not had one for years but ebay is always a good place to look. You could get a cheep none car specific Apollo and just but a silicone joiner and you will save yourself loads. TBH though mate, just get a panel filter and de-restrict the air box by taking out the little trumpet in the bottom of the air box.
