I have seen people use a touch up kit from paints4u, slowly build it up, wet sand it and polish off with a PC. But if your not confident then leave it well alone!

There's a product called Langka, about £15 for a bottle. Basically, it dissolves touch-up paints, but doean't do any harm to OEM paint due to them being different types of paint. It's what a lot of these fast repair places like Chips-Away use.

Basically, you apply a touch-up paint in the usual manner, then after about an hour when it's tacky, put some Langka on a cloth and rub gently over the painted area, which will remove excess paint and blend/smooth it in. Once the paint has dried, just lightly rub down with some 3000 grit wet and dry, then give it a machine polish. I've had some good results with it. The deeper the scratch, the better the results will be. As long as the colour is a good match, the finish should be good.

It does take a certain amount of skill, it depends how 'handy' you are at doing stuff like this as to wether you want to tackle it yourself.
