Default Which OE equivelant springs/shocks set up?

Hi guys- Firstly I don't want to lower my car as I don't want to pay boy racer insurance premiums nor would i risk lying about the mod incase i come unstuck but secondly- i'm not very happy with my springs/shocks set up on the 2.0DTI ELITE.
    my question is this-

What brand is fitted to the car in the factory? and what is the best oe spec but superior alternative for someone who doesn't want to lower??

mine's got sachs shocks on the front at the moment- not sure when or who fitted them and not sure what else I've got underneath as not got my knees dirty yet. I'm hopefully gonna get a very nice member of the forum to do the work for me but his suggestion means lowering 30mm with the eibach/bilstein B4 combo which I'm trying to avoid.
All opinions welcome- but I dont want to lower at all- if i can help it. Ta!

iI prefer the VX OE lowered and uprated stiffened suspension setup, as applied to the SXI, SRI and GSI
On the EU Conformoty certificate this is listed as "sports suspension"

Equally, if your Elite had 18" or 19" wheels then it too would had this setup

From memory it lowers the car by about 20mm

It used to make quite a difference on the old Vectra B SRI and GSI
The standard models had standard 15" tyres, the SRI and GSI had low profile 16" and 17" tyres and the body was clearly closer to the ground
Equally, it was easy to tell they had "sports suspension" as the ride on motorways and country roads was far superior, and didn't feel like a cruise ship wallowing at sea!

If you are modifying with OE parts, which were already an option from new, then the difference in premium will be minimal
Equally, in the event of a claim then you could argue that you were unaware they were a modification!

You are looking at new springs and dampers, even with a simple stiffened setup, and to retain the same handling it will have to be lowered by a small amount

Although the Vectra sports setup is only 15mm lower than standard.

Bilstein B4 shocks will be ok anyway as they are an OE replacment so just the same as fitting different tyres to your car (i.e you won't need to tell the insurance)

As for springs try monroe etc as i have found these to be better quality but without lowering

I wasn't sure how many mm it was, it's not in the brochure so I assumed it was the same as last time
Equally, you can't really see any difference between one with and without
My family have a few Vectra, of which I am the only with the "sports suspension" and they all appear to ride at the same height overall
However, when in my car they say they can feel the difference as there is less roll and it feels firmer, but at low speed on bumps it can be quite a bone shaker!

thanks guys. I was kooking at monroe springs and monroe gas shocks as they are fairly reasonably priced at about £255 all in on pikeybay :-)

has anyone had an experience of their shocks?? as i said at the start- my front shocks are sachs at the monent- not sure if they're shot or just shiiiiiiiite. the car passed the mot so doubt springs are broken or shocks leaking. will look into the SRI springs though- might get them cheap of someone who wanted the car slammed to the deck ;-)

My 2.0T had Sachs dampers on it, and I'm certain they were the original ones, as they had a GM part number sticker on them. I've changed to Bilstein B4's, £35 each (rears) from www.EuroCarParts.co.uk .

Delberto - have you a link to any? I've looked on Ebay but couldn't find anything. I only really want to stiffen the rear springs and maybe shocks, as you without lowering it.

    Cheers

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coil-Springs-R...d=p3286.c0.m14

thats a link ti a set of rear springs for a 2.2dti- but if you go into the sellers shop you sholud find springs for all models. looks like rears are the same but fronts vary with engine size/type. hope that helps. glynn who's near you is apparently very reasonable price wise when it comes to fitting
