Default 3.2 V6 Rocker Cover Gaskets

Recently I have found some serious looking oil drips in my garage and went searching in the engine bay for the source.
It appears that both front and rear rocker cover gaskets are weepng.
Does anyone have any advice n what to be careful of when changing these gaskets ?
Do I have to remove the inlet manifold and what is the best way to do this.

I also hear a bit of a noisy bearing noise, what is the best way to try to isolate where it is coming from ? and can any one tell me where the belt tensioner is as there is so much room in there.....not !
    Haha so many questions.....

If your getting a noise around your belts aswell i would look at your oil pump gasket aswell. It went on mine and supposedly the dealer has done a few of them not a quick job either

If it is that its also a good chance to get the timing belt kit done.

Find the "How to" on changing the spark plugs. Shows how to get the plenum chamber off and therefore access to the covers.

I've tried on my 3.2 but have given up.

Where abouts is the oil pump located, is it at the rear ?
Frustrating thing is I only had the timing belt and kit done about 7000kms ago and am concerned that it could be the tensioner.

Will give the engine bay a good degrease and wash today and then explore some more.

This is the best way I can sum up my experience http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...66#post1066266

The How To here http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ighlight=spark seems straight forward enough but as far as I can see, you need to also disconnect the supply to the fuel rails and that doesn't seem to be mentioned. I might be wrong though.

I too have just found this same leaking problem. Iwas talking to a vauxhall tech and he recons that the rocker covers are plastic and warp and this is what i need to change. Phoning stealership today to see if any truth in this........Car stinks at present.

Correct, according to the indy garage I use. Chap who does my GSi was a VX Master Tech for 9 years and he's mentioned in the past about the plastic covers. However, when he did my gaskets @ 72k, the covers were OK. If they hadn't been OK and only slightly warped, he reckons a good bead of sealant takes up the gaps.

There are two possible causes of this - both quite common. Firstly, as you say, the plastic rocker covers may have warped. Second reason may be that the oil breathers are blocked, causing excess pressure in the crankcase, and that pressure escapes by getting past the rocker cover gaskets, letting oil out as well. Have a read of these two How2s from an Omega forum. The step-by-step instructions will differ somewhat from your car, as the V6 is mounted lengthways in the Omega, but the principles are identical.
