Default oil filter changed but ..

    Hi .
    I have a 2005 SRI 120 cdti 1.9 diesel vectra.
Changed the oil and filter last night . Everything was fine until i started
the engine. OIL came out everwhere. . Looked at it again today and noticed that the oil is coming out below the filter. Some sort of plug i guess is missing . Any help would be great.
    Thanks

i quess you have the paper filter that sits in a 'cup', 100% you have put the new seal on the wrong place, probably on the thread, you need to drain what oil is left, undo cup and ensure the seal is in a recess on the upper part of the thread, smear o ring with fresh oil and tighten, you will need more oil as it would of leaked a hell of a lot in a short amount of time.hope this helps

Is the yellow plug in the picture that you are talking about? It's the draining plug for the oil filter. It's easier if you remove it after you have drained the oil, for easier draining of the oil filter before removing it. you MUST put it back before mounting the new filter oil.

It's underneath at the back of the engine facing up. Looked underneath at the filter and its perfectly sealed, no oil leak at all. But a few inchs to the right and theirs a like a metal tube and that is where the oil is comming out. Its not threadded . I looked through all the waste oil , in case it fell in but no sign. Dont know what to do

If it's the same as the 1.9 150, there's a drain on the filter housing to allow the oil to drain out after a few turns of the fitler itself. This mean you don't have to take the whole thing out to drain it. As said above, it means either the o-ring seals inside aren't seated propely, or it isn't screwed in fully mate...

are you sure it i leaking from there? to be sure wipe away oil with rag around filter, start engine(check oil level first) for a few seconds then switch of.this will show you where leak is coming from.in the box with the new filter you should have a large o ring and a smaller one.did you change both seals? also sometime you can get a bit of grit in the drain plug when you retighten.
