Default Has anyone insured an ex police car?

I bought a 3.2 sri last night which was an ex police car.

The insurance company is saying they don't recognise a 3.2 sri only a gsi and can't insure it.

Has anyone insured one and who with. cheers

My Omega is ex-police and is badged as Elite, even though the equipment level is nothing like a proper Elite plus it has lowered/uprated suspension. Most insurance companies these days look up the reg plate to get the relevant details.

If you're having problems with a particular company just try a different one?

The reg doesn't come up on any insurance sites or when i phoned up. It does on a hpi check though and that comes back fine.

The problem is it's a 3.2 sri and there's no 3.2 sri's rather than it being a gsi with no spec.

I'd tell them its ex-police, and that that is how it comes. They might think you've done an engine swap or something and changed the log book?

Mine is ex-police, but it was a surveillance car not a pursuit car apparently and is a 2.2 Sxi so didnt have any issues with the insurance as it was basically standard.
