Exclamation No power between 3k-4k and high revs

    Hello,

I have got petrol 1.8 vectra C and when i put pedal to the floor the car gets very high rpm without much power. It happens on every gear and it gets worse once car is warmed up. When i accelerate slowly the rpm increase normaly.

    please advice.

    cheers bignew,

Here is a thing. First i took my car 2 days ago to vauxhall garage. They had a road test and the guy said its definatelly slipping cluch and quoted me for 900 pounds. So I though f* y* and took it to HiQ same day. They came with fault in canvas wiring system. They cleared the codes and the car seems to perform much better. They told me i should take it to the electrician and they should solve the problem. I did that yesterday and they found nothing and didnt replace anything. So electrician told me to go back to the vauxhall and they should have better equipment so that they find out what exacly is wrong with a car. I am now booked for monday in vauxhall garage in a different town so they hopefully give me a honest opinion.

What do you think guys? Is this might be a canvas wiring system? I hoping its not the slipping clutch because it will cost me around 500 quids :/

    Any advice please. Cheers

Reading your description of your fault again it does sound like the clutch, I suggest going to a local clutch specialist before Vauxhall.

Vauxhall dealers are the last resort IMA

sounds exactly the same as what happened to myne when the clutch went, its also a 1.8 petrol.

I got myne done by a local private mechanic cheap, but the lowest i got was mr clutch at around 300 squids all in.

I wanna say also that I am sure my car has a power and when revs are between 3-4k then clutch is kicking in (slipping). Do you think it might be something else than clutch? Any other suggestions guys?
