Driver side electric window stopped working

Has anyone had any problems with their electric windows stopping working, and any ideas what the fault could be?

They were working fine up until today, when I've got in car as normal, and pressed the window down switch on drivers side. No response. I can hear a 'double click' when I press the UP or DOWN button, so I don't think it's the switch not working completely.

I've tried manually 'helping' the window the window down (holding hand flat against window, and trying to slide down) when I press the button to see if it's just stuck, but that doesn't help.



Does anyone have any ideas what it could be before I start ripping the whole door card off and having a mess around..

Today my driver side electric window stopped working. It did a few shudders and then a loud crack

Is this a DIY job, a definite dealer one or could you go to any garage?

I guess something snapped (motor attachment to window?).

Any ideas about costs when going to VX?

The windscreen guys will also do door windows, or at least they used to.

As for DIY there's bound to be a guide on here somewhere for dismantling the door.

This happened to me too 2 years and 80000 miles ago on my 2007 Vectra C. Got around to buying a new motor and mechanism on ebay for £25 - there are a few out there so it must be a common fault. Intend to replace it after reading on how to remove the door lining on this site. Windscreen companies I tried were not interested as the glass was ok. Perhaps a hammer attack might get them to repair it.

My drivers side was exactly the same when i bought my Vec!! Wouldn't go down but you could here it click when you pressed the up button.

I took the switch out of the door panel, too the switch apart & cleaned all the contacts. Put it all back together & it's worked fine ever since!! took me about 5mins from start to finish!
