    Default Door lock

Never triedit before, but just realised my one and only key doesn't actually work in the driver's door lock. Only works in the ignition. Not a problem really until the battery in the remote goes flat (what type of battery does it use - flip style key).

My guess is at some point in the cars history, the drivers door lock has been screwdrivered and rather than fit a new lockset, the owner has only had a door lock fitted as a cheap solution.

Question is, is it possible to buy a door lock matched to the original key no?

If you have never used your key in the doors, then the chances are that the lock is just seized.
I tried mine about two years after buying the car and was convinced that the key did not fit...

I was told then that the lock gets seized because the key is never inserted and used.

Just try a bit of WD40 and then gently rock the key back and forth in the lock until it releases.

Mine did...I now just use the key once every few months to keep it working.

Ah yes but surely if the service was carried out correctly then the locks would have been lubricated!!

My friend used to work at Vx dealership in Bolton...the lads had barely enough time to do essentials nevermind little used stuff like door locks...

You'll find that Vx management has less interest in how it treats its staff than us grumbling customers...

Its all about filling the service bay and thus the tills!!!
