    Default Spanner/Car light on...then off.

Strange one here folks and would appreciate some advice or opinions. My Spanner/Car light came on this morning and although it allowed me to start the car it was in safe mode. Switched off the ignition, waited a minute, started again and everything was ok. I knew to do this as this is the third time in about 18 months this has happened with the same outcome. In between these instances the car is perfect. The first time it happened my first reaction was to take it to the garage but as it seems to ‘sort’ itself I haven’t bothered as I’m sure my bill for something that appears not to be serious would still be hefty. Any ideas on what triggers this and why it resets itself? Thanks in advance.

A sensor will be near failure
As you have restarted the engine the fault code will be stored, but once you have started the engine a further few times the fault code will be deleted

Personally, wait until the EMS light is on at all times, then book it in for diagnostic and repair

Thanks for that quick reply. Would that be any sensor or a particular one ? My brake wear sensor is prone to habitual appearances but the brakes are fine and the garage resets.
