Default Grrrrr..... got a problem with.....

    Socks.....

Why is it just after you've put all the washing in the washing machine, and started the cycle... you spot a random sock sitting on the stairs.... or just behind you

Why do these random socks try to escape?

    There is no escape....

Come on Steve, you should know by now.

Washing machines are designed to eat at least one sock during each cycle leaving you with an odd pair, and socks are programmed to singularly leap out of the wash bag/get caught up with other stuff to avoid going into the machine with their partner.

We've just bought a new washing machine that has a feature that helps overcome your problem. If you start the cycle and notice you've forgotten to put an item in, you can press the start button to pause it, the machine tells you if you are able to add anything with a Yes in the display, it unlocks the door and you pop in said item and start it again. All without it having to drain any water. I think if it has to drop the level (if it's over the door) it drops it into an internal reservoir to let you open the door.

Darn clever and a feature that I didn't thhink I'd really use - but used it already a couple of times.

Thats really clever... so washing machines are fighting back against the sock resistance... ha, good news .... we'll get them all in the end

well get your wife to stitch a piece of elastic to each sock and join em together like your mum used to with your mittons/gloves in your coat

after its chaffed on your meat and two veg for a day you will never forget to put both socks in the washing machine/basket ever again

I normally turn around after I've loaded the machine and find the dog following me, carrying the spare sock.
