    Default 2.0 mpg

    I am curious to know what your fuel computer average is showing on your display. The reason i ask is i cannot get over 30mpg (no mway driving) in mine now, whereas before my computer would happily sit at 32mpg+ all the time. The 2 things i have changed are the remap(still on the car) and i have fitted 18" alloys, surely these wont cause a 4+mpg drop...?

    Opinions and mpg would be great guy's

    i would say those figures are correct.

    resetting your comp every time you fill up does not give a true reading let your comp run for a few thousand miles then look.

    my 3.2 reads

    3,711 miles traveled

    24 mph ave speed

    24 mpg

    My figure's were calculated manually and via the computer. Up until i fitted the 18's and had the car mapped i was 32Mpg all day long and more on the motorway but these day's even when driving like a saint i cannot get near it I recently reset my fuel computer(which before was reading 33 oddMpg) and after 2000 odd mile's im sitting at 28.1Mpg and considering its rarely driven hard i would say that this is pretty poor.

    go back to 17s and put ecu back to standard see if its returns to those figures

    a remap is going to use more fuel
    remap = more power
    more power = more fuel
    more fuel = less MPG

    sounds patronizing i know but if its fully serviced and maintained then all i can think off is a bad remap.
    just a thought but wot kind of figures are u expecting.

    A remap per se should not increase fuel consumption, but a tendency to change your driving style whilst enjoying the extra ooomph that a remap gives you can increase fuel consumption. If you drive at the same speed and in the same style both before and after a remap, any increase in fuelling from the remap will be negated by the fact that the engine is running more efficiently and smoothly and is noticeably more responsive particularly but not exclusively in the midrange. And high/very high speed economy is better in a tuned 2.0T than in a standard-tune one IMO.

    There are those who assert that overall fuel economy can be bettered with a remap in the 2.0T. Mine is as near as dammit the same, but I do have a tendency to use the extra response the remap delivers.
