    Default well, that went...awful.

So, my locking nut key sheared off and i have three bolts stuck niceeee and tight on the car. I read all the threads on here and decided the best course of action was to try and remove the spinning collar then smash a socket on.

3 hours in, i get the collar off, bash the socket on...not a chance of it coming off...not a channnceee. the socket is spinning as if the collar was on there, no grip atall. AA came out to see if they could do anything, he tried to use a special tool on the other ones, couldnt even get them off.

end of play today, 3 locking nuts still on, 1 covered by a mutliated socket that now wont come off, and one destroyed alloy. awesome day

(i didnt know where to post this, but seeing as its more of a rant than asking for help, i thought this was the best place)

comiserations mate not a nice feeling - might be worth a visit to a local garage that has http://www.lockingwheelnutremover.co.uk/

made by dynomech we have this system at work - and i can safely say it removes 99% of nuts on a 1st attempt without damaging the alloy

was the best £150 we spent as a dealer - we charge £75 to remove a set of nuts and as a dealer before we got a set we were getting charged £40 per nut by a machine shop to drill em out

    - most local garages will have this tool - thought the AA carried them as well

but when you do manage to get them off invest in a set of mcguards - then no more problems
once again sorry and good luck

I've got one of these and its never yet failed me. I suspect that your wheels have been windy gunned on and that is a big no no. It boils me when i see tyre fitters (or anyone else) do this

Try this mate, put the locking nut on and give it a good hammer, just enough to try and remold the key in the socket. Then jack the spider into wheel and spin it off. Got all 4 of mine off the other week when my key went south.
