    Smile Software Needed

    Hiya!

I have a Hard Drive Video camera, and am looking for some software that I can watch my clips, cut them to a size, and then paste them somewhere ready to burn onto a disc. to make a small movie...of our flying this summer.

I dont have a mac, just a PC.

CAn anyone suggest an easy to use, FRee piece of software?

    Thanks,
    IAn.

connect the camera with usb or firewire and it should work.
just need to tell where it is.
thats where the paid for programs are better, there usually auto detect.

    Not working....

Connect camera in, and i get this - The file J:\DVD_RTAV\VR_MANGR.IFO is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

Ive turned any protection off in the Hard Drive cam corder....

what I jus connect the camera into the PC, I was expecting like files that I can select? But nothing there... just his above?

Shall I jus go to PC world or something?

    Cheers,
    Ian.

'Read Only' came up when I tried to re name the videos.

I can watch the videos on the pc, using a DVD player thngy.

Then I tried to re name the file, and I got the message saying this is a READ only file. Does that mean something on the Hard drive or the recorder is stopp ing me save any files?

If i remember rightly when i got mine a couple of years back i had same prob.
Its to do with the software used by the camera to write the info to the hard drive.
Its like the orange box standard on cds, some normal cd players wont play pc made discs and pcs wont play discs made on some home hi-fi writers.
There may be a setting to adjust it on the camera or you may need a different codec support on the pc,but now its getting technical and im not that good at that.
I ended up changing cameras and now use a paid for program.
Maybe someone else with more pc knowledge could help more, sorry.
