    Angry 2.2 direct fueling/idleing Problem!!

hi there wonder if anyone can give me any more advise on the problems i've had. RIGHT HERE GOES!

Bought a vectra c 2.2 about 6 weeks ago, and a few weeks ago found the problem that when i let the engine go back to idle it dips to 500rpm or so then comes back up to normal idle. feels like the cars going to stall on me when i happens and this happens EVERYTIME, revving the car, pulling up at the lights . . . . ect. so into the local garage to find out the problem. They plugged it in and hey presto! no problem. so they spoke to vauxhall who recommeded me to take it there to be plugged in and find the problem.

So. just returned from Pentagon Vauxhall and after paying the £70 for dio now tell me they want £241 to 'investigate' further. or as my check report says 'partial dismantle' just to find the problem. which he said could be inlet manifold, fuel pump anything. He also kindly informed me that my fuel filter was Non GM so that could be a factor but because it wasnt GM they wouldnt replace it to see if thats the problem.

anyway back to the point. i just want to know if anyone knows of any problems like this thats happened to them or to friends and shed a little4 light on the matter before i pay £241! just to find out the problem.

    Cheers!

From a very cheesed off Baz!

just a quick check for you to do before you go any further is to clean the throttle body as these can get gunked up and affect your idle

Well I got an 03 2.0 SXI DTI and it will soon be scrapped me thinks.

My car developed the problem about 2 weeks ago. I took it from Birmingham to Leeds and back at the weekend to see relatives. Then the following morning I took it out to see the inlaws and boom....spanner light on and limp mode.

Sent it into my ex-VX mechanic mate and he said it could be a range of problems. After a few days he phoned me to say that it is a fuel problem and that he suspected the pump. He sent it to a specialist and it has been confirmed as the pump. He then advised me that a new pump would be £1800+

Not worth the money for me so probably gonna dismantle it and try and get what I can for it.

Sorry for the late responce. But finally got it booked in for monday morning after weeks of arguing with the dealer who sold me the car and the 'not worth the paper it's written on' warrenty! Its having its Fuel Pump changed, and i've got a used EGR valve of e-bay for 20 quid to see if that helps rather than paying nearly £200 for one. so before hand this weekend what else could i do to maybe improve things. i'm changing the fuel filter tomorrow, would it be worth cleaning TBody maybe??

If your vec is a hatch and is 53 plate then its a Z22SE and there are no problems with the fuel pumps and regs on them, its only the later YH's. You dont need a EGR on the SE, you can blank it off with a blanking plate from the dealer, they only cost about £5 and with the cheater you can get rid all together (£10)

Cheers for the advice, had my fuel pump changed and i must say the cars a lot smoother to drive now. BUT . . still the idle problem presists

    ARGHHHHHHH!!!

I'm thinking the EGR valve wouldnt cause this problem, meaning if it failed or was intermittant it would bring 'The Dreaded Light' up. lol

Not had time to change Fuel Filter or Clean TBoby. but its a problem not me, my Local garage nor Pentagon Vauxhall can solve!!

The blanking plate is £5 from the dealer. The light doesn't always come up. If its letting gasses through on idle then its going to be a bit rough. I've seen this problem solved on the 2.2 with just the blanking plate. Its not a MOT requirement by the way so no problems come ticket time.
