Default You have no parental rights !!

Thought I would share this information with you guys as yet another of my mates has been caught out by this and its very upsetting for those involved.

    Scenario:-

If you are the biological father of your child, but you were never married to the mother, you have no legal responsibility for your child. Even if you are on the birth certificate.

The only person with legal parental entitlement is the biological mother.

So, if your child gets hurt, or needs urgent medical attention, if you dont have legal parental responsibility you dont have any rights to make decisions for that child... the doctors / police / or anyone else cannot take your directions for that child

    Just so you know...

This can be rectified in a court of law... but the mother has to agree to share legal parental responsibility with you.

If she doesnt, you will need to get a court order.

    Happy days

weird isn't it. if the mother dies, is the biological father the legal guardian, essentially the new "mother"?

Oh... and dont confuse this with the CSA.... ....as the biological father you have 100% responsibility for the financial welfare of your child.

This is not to be confused with having no legal parental responsibility

    Not legally no.

However, the needs of the child will be taken into account and most likely will remain with the biological father until the legal paperwork can be straightened out

    another stupid law
if you want to take any child of any age all you have to is promise them stuff and spoil them so they want to stay with you. the law can't do anything about it or take the child back to its legal parents. yours to keep as long as you dont hurt the child.

and this is fact so be very carefull who is nice to your kids
