    Default DTI 2.2 Rear suspension

    I'm new to this - but not VauxhalLs.
    Recently aquired a 2.2dti, the old Omega finally giving up th ghost ( which miss).
    On all normal road surfaces including speed humps the rear suspension seems fine. But if you hit a sharp pothole there is an obvious knock. The acr has had new rear shocks in the past and has onmly done 50k so i would assume these are ok.Anyone any ideas? ( the Omega did 160k without any rear suspenion problems - don't build cars th same ... sigh)

    Hi desmo,
    Lots of threads on this topic, I have a 2.2DTI also, not sure if model makes any odds my elite had incredibly sloppy rear shocks, also check rear bushes (rose bushings?) and the arm bushes, if there is excessive play in the wheels these may be to blame.
    I got help on this recently here and all sorted now.

    VX springs are notoriously poor and may have cracked or broken.

    If the car is playing fast and loose (that kinda fishtailing feeling) at the back handling wise the shocks may have gone or just not be very good.

    Think thats about it hope that helps, hope its ok, sure i'll be corrected if not

    Rear lower suspension arm bushes are notorious for the cause of the knocking noises described.Plenty of threads about it in the relevant section.

    I thought it was the upper arm that caused the knocking too

    luckily vx bits are cheap, I am going to replace mine tomorrow as I too have a sloppy rear end

    The knocking SHOULD be the upper control arm, I've just bought two off ebay for £25 each, Vx want £75 each!! Although, after buying I noticed the same items listed as "trailing arms" which are priced on there for about £25 for a pair

    I'll be changing mine next weekend, and following this How2 from here;

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46991

    Also I'm gonna change my anti roll bar bushes whist I'm "down there", £3.78 each from Vauxhall;

    Hopefully solve my "loose rear end" - more tea vicar??
