Default Thinking about buying a Vectra Estate

    Hi Everyone.

New member here. I am thinking about buying a Vectra estate, but not 100% sure on a couple of things, and could do with some advise.

Been offered a 2005 1.9 CDTI (120) with 69k on, but I noticed it's shape is a little different to the 2006 models headlights are different etc.

Would I be better off going for the newer facelift model as prices are not that much more, anyone know if anything major changed or which is the better car?

    Thanks

    Frenchman

Hi, its all down to personal taste, I have a vectra estate 56 reg, and went for it because of its spec and styling. If there is not mutch in price I would go for the face lift model.

    good luck

Hi, thanks for the reply. Do you know if there is any major changes between the two models?

Apart from the restyled front end, and a few differences inside. Seems the later models lost a few items that were standard fit on earlier cars of the same trim level.
I have an 08 SRi Estate with the 1.8 vvt engine, and that has about 15 more bhp than the non vvt 1.8 on the pre facelifts. It does go well, and is quite good on fuel.
The estate is cavenous, I think just under 7ft of load space with the rear seats down!!

I've had mine since Jan this year, it was 10 months old and had 11k on the clock. Now has 22k and <touch wood> has had no problems at all.
I paid £8700 from a Vauxhall main dealer as well. Noticed on Auto Trader thet the used prices are going back up again.
    Better get in quick

I bought the pre-face lift as that was the only made them at the time. There is loads of space in the back of the estate. You should be please with which ever you get.

Hi, I have a 05 prefacelift SXi estate. 1.9 120 diesel. Well pleased with it. Loads of room and I prefer the firmer suspension.
The 120 suits the car too IMO. Plenty of thrust.
Can't really go wrong with these estates, whatever model you choose.

I think I will go with a 2006 model, been looking at estates and I don't really like the look of the mondeo, just like a wardrobe on wheels imo, the vectra has a much nicer look.

I also like to do as much maintenance myself as poss, and had a look through the DIY section here and I cannot believe how much info is in here

Makes my decision much easier knowing how much support there is here, I hate paying someone else to do something I can do myself

Will let you know as soon as I get one.

I've got the facelift (2006 reg) SRi estate with the 150 CDTi engine. Now on 50k miles, was 37 when I got it 15 months ago and no problems so far

As others have said, it's big for an estate & I've had no problems with anything I've put in it. IIRC, the facelifts had some mechanical 'improvements', as often happens with mid term 'facelifts' but, at least with the SRi, to keep the price similar, some standard pre facelift fittings were made chargeable 'extra's on the facelift.

I've driven the pre-facelift too & for me, it's down to what is available & which you prefer.

When my then partner bought the pre-facelift 120 CDTi estate in 2006, we went out purposfully to buy a Mondeo estate but came back with the Vectra when visiting the Vx dealer after we had been to the Ford dealer.

The facelift 2006 will always be easier to sell on too as its a later model
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
