Ripoff Insurance Companies

Insurance is coming up for renewal again, and in 2 years its climbed from £175 upto £285.
Thats for fully comp, maximum no claims, and NC protection, that's on a BMW 2ltr 318i SE Auto, strangely a renewal quote for the Insignia I had from them was £40 less.

Anyway... I thought it was time to check out the comparison sites, and the cheapest was the AA at £182, but with a £250 compulsary, and £250 voluntary excess, so thats £500 if I had a my fault bump, with loads more around the £190-£210 mark with lower excess payments.

Quite a few were considerably cheaper than my insurances quote, so I rang them up to inform them I was not renewing, and you guessed it.. they dropped their renewal quote down to £211 just for mentioning a few of the comparison site quotes.

Thats a drop of £71, it just shows how they ripoff their regular customers who have been with them for a while, while giving low quotes to new customers.

So... although I've never used these comparison sites before, they are certainly useful when it comes to getting competitive insurance.

i find it very very sad that we all have the need to phone the insurance company on renewal to barter and haggle over the best price
how many naive people get the renewal and pay it without even thinking

every year a phone call is made and every year the renewal quote it beaten by a phone call to the current insurer
