Engine management light - veccy b (2.0DTi)

Been away and the EML on my wife's is coming on intermittently (4 -5 seconds) this is after car being started and driven away, any clues?
Car is a 51 plate with 88k

Does the light stay on when the car is being driven? Is there any loss of power?

It's very hard to just guess without the fault codes, it could be a number of things.

However as with all dti's start with the simple & common faults first.

Check all vac tubes, connectors, pumps, & boost hoses for any splits or failings... have a look at the egr valve too this could be sticking.

I would deffo say split vac pipes by the battery, had it on my 2.2 DTI SRI a month ago and the management light came up, in the end there were 3 of them that were split!
