    Default BSR stage 3?

Can you stage 3 owner's tell me what issue's your getting with your stage 3 set up's and what BSR are doing to remedy them??

The reason i ask is that im going to get my car mapped again soon and BSR is an option, but i know once i get stage 1 i will want stage 3 and TBH this is the main pull of BSR that they have 'stages'. Has anyone actually made anywhere near the stage 3 figure's on a rolling road and do they all overfuel??

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated

As per another post, mine was showing to be overfulleing on the last RR. It's basically BSR being safe (possibly too safe!) and making sure there's no chance of detonation by chucking in a richer mix to prevent this. Mine only overfuelled at high revs i.e. 5500 so I'm not unduly worried as I simply never rev that high. With the torque of the S3 there's simply no point in revving that high as the torque tails off. Even when giving it some beans I have no need to rev past 4500 before changing.

Mine was down on peak power on the last RR partly because the overfuelling was killing some of the power. Bear in mind that peak bhp is usually generated at peak revs but as we know the peak bhp is not the be all and end all. My torque was nice and healthy albeit a bit down from the last run at the same place and it looked like that was due to my boost being lower. I think I've tracked that back to the downpipe being a bit loose on the turbo due to the nuts coming slightly loose. I got all that sorted and felt a difference in pickup so I'd like to see it on a RR again.

I keep meaning to e-mail BSR to ask them about the overfuelling and now that I've sorted out my support cover I must do that - just to see what they say.

Thanks for the swift reply D

I assumed overfuelling would lead to bore wash, especially over a period of time?

Yes, excessive continual overfuelling can lead to that. I changed my oil just recently and didn't notice any hint of fuel in it, so that's a good sign that there's nothing for me to worry about. As I said it was only at high revs it was overfuelling and I simply never rev that high.

Next time I change the oil I'll check it again just to make sure nothing's changed. Now that you've brought it up I'll pop out later on and just do another check and pop out my spark plugs to make sure they're not looking black and sooty.

Was never taken by it TBH, but once I discovered the clutch slip I then put it down to that. I'm contemplating getting an uprated clutch or the VXR clutch then buying another set of injectors and trying again LOL

Default BSR Cost, BHP and engine life/MOT

    Hi there,

Was curious to know how much this BSR stage 3 costs and what BHP you are getting from the 2.0T. I own a Vectra 2.0T pre facelift. I am not an aggresive driver, but like to give it some beans occasionally when I am in the mood and might consider a power upgrade one day.
If you are a slightly causious driver like me how does the stage 3 effect the life of the engine? Also I was wondering if it might likeley fail MOT's running a richer overfuelled mixture.

    have you tried stage one

you might be impressed with the difference and then save the money from the additional 2 stages for something else

As long as you use SUL fuel (97 RON or higher), regular oil changes then you (hopefully) shouldn't see any issues with engine life. If you abuse the engine/don't look after it then you'll obviously shorten it's life.

Mine has been through two MOTs with S3 on it - passed both. The readings are closer to the limit with S3, bit it passed. Definitely an idea to make sure the engine is warmed up before the test.

So has anyone actually made the BSR stated figure's and if not what is BSR's responce? I find it strange the figure's of stage 3 are so far out given they are pretty condervative with there figure's for stage 1
