    Default Advice buying a Signum...

    Currently im looking to buy a Signum as my daily driver.
    Im going to see one on Saturday, and its the 1.9 CDTi (150) model on an 04 plate.
    What things should i look for when buying one?

    Secondly, how can you tell from looking over the car if it is actually the 150bhp model, and not a 120bhp model that has been badged up the same?
    The reason i ask this, is that on the logbook for the car, the current owner says its down as a 120 by mistake, and he's never got around to contacting the DVLA to change it?
    So far i know that its 6 speed, and that the boot badge 'CDTi' has both 'T' and 'i' in red.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    As far as i'm aware if it has the red "TI" that denotes it being a 150 BHP model, I would think it more likely it has been rebadged than DVLA having it listed wrong? But you never know. I beleive things to look out for on the Diesel eng are Dual Mass Flywheel (very expensive to replace) EGR valve clogging up and problems with swirl valves. Another major problem with all Veccies and Siggy's is they are prone to springs snapping. So have a good check of the suspension. Hope this helps. Do you know what model it is?

    120 oil filler cap on left, 150 oil filler cap on right of engine. HTH

    make sure the duel mass flywheel has been done, if its a 150 CDTI oil filler on right. pull up the engine cover and check that the swirl valve is connected to the swirls.
    check the suspension springs as they are prone to snapping
    make sure all electrics work inc aircon
    VXR IS FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR THRILLS !

    make sure you can get into the boot some are prone to the boot switch failing, check the indicators work properly on turning right some are prone to cancel BEFORE you get to the turn so try it on road test at a right hand junction.... check theres no clicking on the air con recirculation

    i'm not saying that the cars are bad these are just the regular reported faults - i love my signum

    and the dvla do make mistakes .....mines listed as a 6 seater and i sent my v5 back with the amendment to 5 and it came back ........







    yep still showing 6 seats !!

    Cheers for the replies guys, you have been a great help
    From the pics the guy has sent me, the oil filler is on the right, so im assuming its the 150
    The front springs have just been replaced.

    I got a bit confused over the following though (my first diesel)....

    Secondly, what is the duel mass flywheel, and what causes it to fail?
