Default WTF? 9000 miles from a pilot sport 2 on rear

Hi all, having a much deserved day of today i decided to service the car, Whilst lying under neath it trying to manouver myself towards the oil sump i caught sight on my near side rear, And holy crap...... Ive never saw nor had a tyre in worse condition.

About 10m months ago i replaced all 4 tyres with michelin pilot sport ps2`s whilch cost me a small fortune, I put the wider 225`s on it instead of the 215`s. I knew they where starting to get on a bit but thought theyd be ok for another 1-2 months. The fronts are nearly on the 1.6mm marker with a very slight wear on the inside and the backs .......... Well i dont usually check them much but they looked ok from looking at them standing up beside the car

Now any car i have ever owned the fronts always outlasted the backs but when i saw this i near ****.

What could be causing the problem, The other 3 tyres are ok.....ish, well better than this one, if anything its the 2 nearsides that are the most worn on the inside??? Also when I got the ps2`s on I got a 4 wheel alignment done as well.

Any ideas what could be wrong, the tyres have only covered between 9-11000 miles

Methinks you need to get your tracking/alignment looked at - that's what's caused that.

The question begs... How the hell did you not see that before or feel the back end being twitchy on cornering given that two-thirds of the tyre is bald!! Those tyres are well , there's even cord showing!

Vectra's are known for wearing the rear tyres on the inside edge, but your's is extreme.

I would say from what you have described about the other 3 tyres, that you may have a geometry issue. I would get the car checked.

TBH I last checked the rears about 3 weeks ago and they where fine, ..... well a bit scrubbed on the inside but nothing like that. I had the alignment done when they where put on. Do you think should i go back to them and give of some steam?? 9000 on a rear?

Is it not strange that the 2 nearside are the worse and the of side are pretty good?

What do you mean by the geometry? do you think the car is bent or something? & how do i get it checked?

Give some garages a call, perhaps get a quote for a full 4-wheel allignment !!
Perhaps try VX, the price might suprise you, had normal tracking done at VX a while ago and it was only £25.

If your tyres, were cats - They would look like this ....

There's no way that they've gone from "..a wee bit scrubbed on the inside." to that. If they were that badly aligned to begin with then they'd have worn more quickly which you would've/should've noticed.

After 10 months they'll just tell you to do one. How do they know that you haven't done anything to cause your alignment to go off? Not intentionally but just with anything you've done whilst driving.

I don't think you've got any case there TBH. Too long down the line and if they were that badly aligned to begin with then they'd have worn quickly and you should have spotted it.

Don't wish to sound pessimistic but I can't see how you've got any comeback now.
