    Unhappy Wiper Help....

Been looking in the search threads for this and looks like nobody has had this problem but hopeing that someone can help .

Basically, everytime I use the wipers the offside (drivers) brings the water back across in front of my view to see the road . And it's worse when there is more water on the windscreen and when moving faster.

Now I thought it may have been the wipers knackered or on their way out so bought some new ones but it's still doing exactly the same thing (I only use Bosch Aero flat blades). Until I changed them I had the blades on for almost a year and it's never done this before.....

(Point to note, wiper linkage has been replaced no more than 3-4 months ago)

    Anybody got any ideas please?

Is it all smeary, as if the blades were knackered?

It's possible the screen is contaminated with something eg. wax or oil.

Try cleaning the screen and blades with neat white vinegar or undiluted screenwash - a clay bar can help remove some mess from it too.

Even better, machine polish the glass with an abrasive glass polish or use a jewellers rouge.

It could also be the spring gone in the arm.

The spring in the arm was something that I was thinking as I clean my clean quite thoroughly when I clean the car.

What does the spring actually do?

It pulls the arm / blade against the screen. If it has become weak, it will not be holding it as firmly against the screen, so the blades won't wipe as well.

The spring pulling on the arm keeps pressure on the arm to keep the wiper blade against the windscreen.

Beaten to it, must think / type quicker.

Have you had the arms off at all? If its not the spring the arms might not be tight on the spindle or even the linkage attached to the body properly? There is a certain angle the arms need to be set at, only know that because there is a VX tool number for checking the angle.

I did have the arms on and off then I had issues with the linkage etc...

I'll check the arms are tight and the linkage is tight to the body. If that makes no difference then I'll have to try the spring I suppose

    Cheers

An update....I've been out and checked that everything is tightened up etc... and it is. If it's not the spring in the wiper arm that is knackered I can't see what the problem is.

Some people keep saying that it's probably the flat blades but I'm sure that it can't be because I've never had this problem in the past
