Rear wiper stopped working!!

Hi Guys,

As title suggests the rear wiper has stopped working on my 53 reg edition 100.
Gave the wiper stalk a push this morning to clear rear screen but when pushed again nothing!! The wiper kept going and no click/ping noise from car.
So when got to work turned car off and back on again this time push the wiper stalk and nothing again!! The wiper didnt move, push thw wiper stalk forward and still no click/ping noise from the car.

Have checked fuses and un-plugged coupler and cleaned contacts on wiper module behind steering wheel but still no joy.
Done a search and know the rear wiper not working is a common problem and is usually down to the motor or relay but i havent come across a post where the car does not make the cancelling click/ping noise.
Dont know whether the CIM is on the way out because everything else, speedo,revs etc... are working fine.

Your wealth of knowledge is greatly appreciatted on this one.

With the engine running, put the front wipers on and then put the car in reverse. This should automatically put the rear wiper on. I would assume that if the wiper does come on then theres a switch problem and if it doesn't then there's a motor problem.

Yeah have tried this and the wiper works fine. So iguess its the switch.
Have removed cowling from steering wheel but it seems impossible to remove the main module to get at the switch contacts with the wheel in the way.
Am i looking at it wrong or do i have to take the wheel off and if so how the hell do i do that!!!
