    Default Gap year

I've got a selection of Nieces and Nephews who are taking gap years, and vanishing around the world for a year, and I'm incredibly jealous!
I left school at 16, and went straight to work, and I've now been working continually for 31 years, which I don't think is fair.
I WANT A GAP YEAR! I could have a lot more fun than the average 17-year-old, I'm sure. And I deserve it more than some spotty kid.

I suppose I'll just have to wait for Ernie or the lottery to come up......

    Phil

I'm in there with ya Phil, I worked it out all the holidays i've missed I'd be entitled to a 2yr period off now.

Still imagine how our dad's must have moaned about how we had cars like the Capri etc, when they had to make do with a A40 etc

He did. He still does (he used to work for VX). He didn't believe that my V6 CDTi was a diesel at first!
I fondly remember his 1963 PB Cresta. Slippery leather seats, bench front seat, column change. The thing always seemed HUGE!
Had a 2.6 litre straight-6, which would just about do 80. Ah. memories......

I still want a year off, though.......!!

In a 10 years time, the Govt will have scrapped pensions and there will be no fixed retirement age, you work until you drop, so we will all need a gap year every 10 years, to recuperate.

I'm intending to be out of the UK sometime in the next ten yrs if things dont improve on a lot of fronts soon, as for pensions, I know what they will say to me, cos I've been self employed since I was 18 they will come up with some old tosh about I didn't contribute enough to get a full peasention, so hopefully my future realised assets will be enough to secure me an income anyway.

You can blame Mel Gibson for all the things going on here now, since he made Braveheart, our Scottish government must have watched it and thought it to be fact and are now taking revenge against us Englanders by way of tax and smashing the fabric of society to pieces
