    Default Shinning silver

Hi all, how do you get a decent shine on your silver motor? Some vecs on here have an ammazing finish!

Is silver just a difficult colour to get a good deep shine from? Would clay also help?

Clay will take off all the bedded in grime and will give a super smooth finish if you do it right,it should leave the paint with a finish similiar to glass.

I always use Autoglym Super Resin polish and it comes up really clean and I use a polisher as well

Depends on the current condition of your paint. If your paint is in excellent condition, but you just feel that you can't quite as good a shine as others, maybe you need to change products / methods. If your paint is in bad condition, you will need to do a little work on it.

After washing the car, use a clay to remove all the contaminents, then a good polish to clean the paint and remove minor scratches (I use Poorboys SSR 2.5, by hand). Once polished I would recommend a glaze (eg. Poorboys White Diamond for a silver car), which will fill any remining minor imperfections and give the paint a wet, glossy look. Glaze offers not protection and will wash off with rain if left, so you will need to apply a wax or sealant (I use Poorboys Ex-P)... yes, I love Poorboys stuff - good quality, good price. Optionally, you can then apply a carnauba wax over the sealant (never apply a wax before a sealant) to give it some warmth and further gloss (I use (you've guessed it) Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax. Give it a quick going over with some detailer eg. Meguiars Last Touch, to remove any left over residue.

Mine is Star Silver. After all the "ground work"( claying paint clean polish).
I use these products and am very pleased with the results. ( any member who has seen my motor will agree. My cleaning "regime" amaized" Lump. A man I have great respect for his cleaning knowlage).
Colinite 915 very good for it,s durability ( good for winter protection)
Victoria Concours Wax ( My favorite for my motor)
KP1000P this stuff is very good. So good I am amaized with it.
No doubt there are numerous other products that "enhance" silver. But these are the one,s I can vouch for.

If using a sealant then it sealant then wax as sealants really need a bare surface to bond to.

Also are there any favorite products amongst members on here for the following?

    1 - Wash
    2 - Clay
    3 - wash again
    4 - Decent Polish
    5 - Wax
    6 - Sealant
    7 - Detailer

Can see that there are personal favorites but think i'd better go with the general consensus, don't want to botch the paint work up as i'm a complete novice.
